MY BROTHER IS AWESOME

He’s not a girl, and he’s not a blogger, so I can’t really give him a “Rockin’ Girl Blogger” award. But I must tell the world: MY BROTHER ROCKS!

Ok, ok, sure, this is the same big brother who used to hold me down and drool on me. And the same brother who engaged me in a permanent marker fight in which my his marker leaked and got permanent blue spots all over the newly remodeled kitchen. And this is the same brother who drew an imaginary line down the middle of the back seat of the VW Bug and then whined every time I even LOOKED onto his side of the car!

But now that he’s old older, he’s grown up a bit. His heart, like the Grinch’s, has grown three sizes! This weekend he proved it by hauling himself down to my house and helping with some tasks that were over my head…..literally. One of his tasks was to trim some trees that were getting out of control. Some limbs were getting so long they were whacking our shed with every wind (not good!) So he chopped and hacked and sawed away until they were well away from the shed. Plus there were a few extra trees he just had to pretty up. Now they are beautiful!

He also took care of a big hump of earth that has been there since we had a new well drilled…..in 2003. Now the area is all nice and pretty, graded out, and planted with grass seed.

AND….ick. He totally cleaned out the kids’ playhouse which had become a winter home for mice! The thing is now clean enough to live in!!

Plus he did various and sundry other odd jobs I’ve been putting off for quite some time! And he did them all well!

He was a working machine that day and into the next! His hard work earned him my big fat seal of approval (that and $2.00 will buy him an ice cream cone) and it earned him all of the yard equipment we don’t use anymore (John Deere riding lawn mower, trailer, lawn sweeper, fertilizer spreader, etc).

Hey, maybe he was just being nice to get my stuff! Maybe it’s not because I’m the bestest little sister in the whole wide world! Or maybe he did it to make up for all of those times he was unable to suck the drool back in before it actually landed on my face!

Well, whatever the motive, I’m so grateful to have my big brother!

Thanks, Big Bro!!! Love you!!!!

p.s. I hope you didn’t end up with poison ivy like I did!

what a great brother! the permanent marker fight made me laugh. that sounds like fun!

it was fun. Until HIS marker leaked. And then my mom came home. And then….well…it wasn’t so fun anymore.

There may still be a marker spot or two if you look hard enough.
I have to admit, the lawn equipment was an incentive, but it is always nice to see the fam. Especially when my niece & nephew grow so quickly.
I did get poison ivy…….just enough to keep the memories of all the joyous(not) labor that Karen had for me to do.
I did however, get treated to dinner from ‘City Barbeque’. The food was awesome! (They aren’t available in our area).
It was a worthwhile trip for me in many ways.
Love ya sis……….sorry about the drool!

Yes, even though we spent 10 hours scrubbing the kitchen with toothbrushes and rubbing alcohol, there were still a couple of spots that we missed. We have more City BBQ where that came from, so come on down, we’ll have some more fun!
