WHEW! WHAT A WEEKEND

Posted by Karen on Jul 16 2007

**Don’t forget about the Klean spa giveaway going on now! The deadline to post your stories is tomorow– Tuesday, July 17th at 5:00pm EST.**

Here’s how our weekend went down. Don’t blame me if you’re tired after reading this!

Saturday:

4:15 a.m. YES…..that’s A.M.! Mike takes KT to church to catch the bus that’s taking her to camp. I get up to see her off and then I’m wide awake. Mike gets home around 6:00 and I go back to bed and sleep until 7.

8:30…leave home to take Nick to Mike’s dad’s house. Mike’s sister is taking him to Kings Island for the day. We end up staying and chatting for a couple of hours. We are now officially “kidless.”

11:00…head home. Pick up a couple of things, then onto Easton.

12:00….eat lunch at Potbellys…..yummmmm…

12:45….see “License to Wed.” Decent movie. Love John Krazinski. First grown up movie I’ve seen in a theater in….ages.

So far our “plan” for the day is going well. Here’s where it gets a little crazy.

3:00….notice that the Gap is having a “remodeling” sale and is selling off all of their tables, shelves, and fixtures. I find a table that will be PERFECT for the scrapping area I’ve been wanting to create in a corner of the playroom. 66inches long, 30 inches wide, 33 inches high. Make lowball offer on said table ($35) and they accept it!

3:20-4:00….drive home to pick up Mike’s Highlander because table will not fit in my Camry.

4:10…measure the inside dimensions of Mike’s Highlander–65 inches long, 29 inches high! No way the table will fit (legs don’t come off).

4:20….call neighbor with a minivan and ask to borrow it.

4:30-5:00…help neighbor clean out minivan (she has a son–carseat, stroller, toys, etc) and does marketing (paperwork, suitcases, samples, etc) Plus the seats all need to come out.

5:05….head BACK to Easton

5:40…..get table into minivan….find out that the other shelf system that would have been AWESOME to go with the table has been sold.

6:30…..Arrive home (AGAIN!)

7:45….leave to pick up Nick from Mike’s dad’s house.

10:15….arrive home….AGAIN!

*table ended up costing $75 b/c we put $40 worth of gas into the minivan, plus I totally vacuumed the thing out. Neighbor’s hubby saw it and said “it hasn’t been this clean since the day we bought it!” I can totally relate to how a van looks when you have small kids!!

Now, onto Sunday:

Spend hours going through the play room weeding out toys the kids no longer play with. Haul those toys to the garage and will offer them (for free) to minivan neighbor. Of course, must wait until KT gets home from camp so I don’t give away anything she’s still wanting. Clean in every corner and crevice. Haul table in from garage and set up a scrapping area. KT has been wanting to get the scrapping stuff out for awhile now. There is just never any good place to put it. When she gets home from camp, this is what she’ll find:

The balloons are leftovers from her birthday. If they’ll just stay afloat for a few more days, I think they’ll add a nice touch to KT’s surprise!

Whatcha think?

Very cool! I would love a scrapping area like that. I think KT will love it. BTW I recognize that tan “box” on the bottom shelf. :)

Yup, I’ve got two more I could put there but need to determine what will go in them. I’m afraid they’ll be a “catch all.”

    Phew, sounds hectic!

Wow, if I had a scrapping area that nice, I might actually have to find the time and energy to keep up with my scrapbooks! ;) I hope the balloons stay afloat for you so KT gets the full effect. Awesome job!

Wow! What a great deal. And your helping the environment at the same time by recycling that table.

I can’t tell you how many times I have measured the inside of a Highlander. We loved it, but needed more room sometimes. Our Sienna will fit LOTS more!

Cute table. I bet it will be perfect!

That is a cute table. My sewing/scrapbooking area is an old table from a family on base that was moving and didn’t want it any more so it was nice and free. It collects a lot of junk though which is very frustrating when I want to actually use it.

Wow, now that’s a clean room! Could you come over and clean my house, too?

The last movie I’ve seen in a theater is Curious George. Sad, huh?

I would, but you’re too far away.

I love it! And what a great scrapbooking area (love the table–what a steal!). Are you a scrapbooker, or just your daughter? Either way, how fun is that.

Dd started it. After spending $$ to get her set up, I thought I should do it too. Makes it more “cost effective.”

Wow! I would have liked to see the before pics. On 2nd thought…No! KT will be really pleased. You have just given me a great idea. My granddaughter (9) will be home on Thursday. I still have time to re-do her room!
Welcome home balloons would be great!

love it. you should ahve went to the school auction with us last sat. we bought six teacher storage lockers(each approx 6ft by 4 ft) 3 sections of 12 ft shelving with hooks, and 3 bookshelves approx 10 ft long that fit under the windows. all of that for the low low price of $11.00 of course we had to remove it from the walls and carry it away. but it is all solid oak. we also bought two old metal teacher desks for 20.00 each and I do mean old. we found an old student’s paper dated 1966!!!!!
