I only got wise after 15 years of menstruating. I am so sorry I didn't before. I just never even thought of it, that there would be something SO MUCH BETTER.

It's really surprising how much your whole attitude to your period changes by making the switch. It certainly isn't like you are "making a sacrifice to be greener." It is a luxury item, a special piece of lingerie.

And yay for homeschooling too.

good for you! it's so great that you're starting to use reusables right from the beginning. it took me 15 years to make the switch! you're making great decisions for your body and that is a very powerful thing!

And this is all very familiar territory for why I use cloth diapers as well. Seriously, if cloth is more comfortable for baby and economical and ecofriendly, etc. I came at these from the cloth diaper angle, if my baby only fights to wear the disposables when we travel then they must like the cloth on their tushie better, right? So wouldn't I be more comfortable with cloth too? I started using cloth diapers with my first because it was less expensive in the long run. Then I learned about the disposable diaper impact on the planet.

KT, thank you for writing this. My oldest daughter is 12 and has is at the point where you were when you first heard about LunaPads. I would like her to read your review and get a young girl's perspective. You did a great job.

I think KT needs her own blog, then your KT and my Mog could be blog buddies. In the meantime, I am trying to get a few homeschoolers together over at our homeschool blog forums.

Say, KT, I didn't know you could write so well!! Your little article is interesting and informative. I learned a lot about Lunapads because you were so clear in your description of them. And I liked reading about how you felt about using them. You made me wish that Lunapads had been around when I was thirteen.....or fourteen.....
or fifteen.....and more!!!

KT & Karen, great team work here! I wish my mom had found out about reusable alternatives so I could have started out with a much happier outlook on my period.

To Midwest Mommy - there's different bag options available at Lunapads, a simple nylon pouch or the fancier Moon Pad Bag, that you use to carry your used liners in while out during the day, then you just wait until you get home to clean them.

Wow. KT you are a great writer and reviewer.

I haven't tried Luna Pads yet but I have read about them. People who do use them seem to love them. I also have heard about the moon cup. Haven't tried either.

You are really starting to convince me that I should get a set. They look really pretty and comfortable. That is one thing I like about cloth diapers, you have a much greater choice in fabrics ect so each child gets the absorbency they need. I will be defiantly entering the contest.

KT - What a great review! I am so glad you like the Lunapads. I love love love mine.

When I first heard of them, my install reaction was Ewwwww to! I am so thankful for the friend that first told me about them though. I would have never given them a second thought if I had not had a first hand testimonial as well.

Ok, I am going to have to check this out. I am a little in the "ewwwww" stage right now and still wondering about what you do with them when you are out in public and need a change.
I am an open minded person though so I will read into it.

a friend of mine swears by these! and we have both used the Divacup which is an alternative to tampons, you have to be really comfortable with your body to use the cup. and WOW anything that makes you feel better about your period is wonderful

Karen here. Reba is referring to the Diva Cup. This is another product I've heard nothing but rave reviews about. There is a slight learning curve to it--it takes a cycle or two to get used to--but once it's working, it's wonderful! You can find information about that here: www.divacup.com
