A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE
Posted by Karen on Nov 19 2007
So I was perusing the blogs on my reader this morning and came across one at Mom of 3 Girls that was very interesting. Seems that Maura at Mom Coming Home is having a celebration in honor of her 3 year blog-aversary! Wow! Three years!
Anyway, for the celebration she’s asking people to go back and look at their very first blog post. Write a post about your trip down memory lane, how things are the same, how things are different, etc. Then you go here and link back to your post. She’ll be randomly awarding THREE $20 Amazon.com gift certificates!
I’m just linking to my first post since it’s so long. No point in copying and pasting.
I started writing on this blog with that post on January 29th of this year. That means next Thursday is my 10 month blog-aversary! Wow! I’m not sure if you all know this, but I started writing here reluctantly. Seems that Dr. Mike bit off more than he could chew with a blog AND a podcast, (not to mention a family and a full time job) so he kept begging me to take over the blog, to give it a little life. Very very reluctantly, I agreed.
It probably took me about 3 hours to write that first post. And then it had to go to “editing.” Which means Dr. Mike checked it for content, flow, passive verbs, and correct grammar. Yes, my first 10-15 posts were edited by the extremely obsessive-compulsive Dr. Mike. Once he realized he was too busy to edit, he let me go at it alone!
How is Pediascribe the same as it was back then? Well, it’s still me. All me. What-you-see-is-what-you-get-me. I’ve stayed true to myself and have never changed this blog to try to fit in any specific niche. It’s still very eclectic. Topics can range from recipes, to organizing, to crazy husband stories, to hysterical Nick-isms, to my weaknesses, to my strengths, to reusable menstrual products. And lots lots more!
How has this blog changed over the months? It’s gotten way less philosophical, way less formal. Now, for me anyway, it’s just plain fun. It’s about whatever is going on in my life at the time. It’s a way to connect with other blog friends. It’s a way to stay in contact with my family. It’s a way to vent, to share, to support, to commiserate with my readers. It’s a way to stay connected to the outside world and with people who can relate to me.
Dr. Mike will have to fight me to get this blog back!

I, for one, am very happy you took over the blog. Not that Mike didn’t do a great job but it was more “business” related back then. With you it is about life, and your family, and I love that. Keep up the great work!
