My parents came for a visit around St. Patrick’s Day.

One of the nights we went to Longhorn for dinner. The other night, I had to cook. So I decided to do it up big and I told them I was going to make Pioneer Woman’s pot roast. My dad was all for it. My mom…..she was worried that my dad would come to expect that kind of cooking. It turned out phenomenally!! I also made the roasted garlic mashed potatoes. I had to sequester my mom in the sunroom to play a game with the kids so she was not privy to what was actually in them!

Well, my dad had made dessert. And I think it’s funny. I make him the most awesome, the most scrumptious, the most delectable dinner. And for dessert, he makes this for me…..

Yeah, it’s apple pie. With apples that have been died green for St. Patrick’s day. Either that or they are very very moldy. Which I hope they weren’t because over the course of a few days I ate 4 pieces of it. So yeah, while it looks nasty, it tasted phenomenal!

If you know Nick personally, you know he’s a pretty tenderhearted kid. Sure he likes to get his way and will fight for his rights, but then as soon as he gets them, he usually defers to someone else. No one who knows him personally would say he’s violent, or aggressive, or mean-spirited in any way.

So what do I make of this poem he made up? Maybe he has Mafia connections?

If they cut off your head,
You’re basically dead.

If they run you over with a boulder,
You’ll definitely lose a shoulder.

If you whine,
They might break your spine.

Remember my foray into the world of “Sandwiches fit for a Cowboy?”

I have revamped it so it no longer contained cow regularness. I made it again, but this time with portobello mushrooms instead of cube steak. Other than the fact that it wasn’t as hard to chew, there really was no difference at all.

This week’s theme is “Unique or Funny Signs.”

We saw this one as we were leaving Kennedy Space Center. We had to circle back so we could take a picture of it. Who knew back then I would be able to use it for Saturday Photo Hunt?
