SATURDAY PHOTO HUNT–WOODEN
Posted by Karen on Feb 23 2008

Today’s theme is “Wooden.” I can’t think of anything more appropriate to show you than some wooden creations my dad has made over the years. Today’s post should really be called Saturday Photos Hunt because there will be several.
So let’s get started….
Here is a picture of the second bed my dad made for Mike and me. Seems that the platform bed he made for our wedding gift became too small once Mike and I got fat had kids joining us in the middle of the night.

Those kids I mentioned….yeah Grandpa makes lots of wooden things for them….
Like rocking horses and puppet theaters….

And hobby horses that bounce….

And tables and chairs and baby doll furniture…..

And train tables and train wall hangings…

And yes, even playhouses….

Once in awhile he spoils his own kids too. Like when he made me a cross stitch frame…

And because I have kids, he knew I needed one of these…

Thanks, Dad!!!

I still have the banana hanger, the train and the same train coat hook that you showed the picture of, that I bought from your dad when we worked together how many years ago? They all have made it through several moves. The banana hanger gets quite a work out. Sometimes I need two of them.

Being the recipient of a cross stitch frame, I know personally that your dad has amazing talent. Thanks for sharing his work.

Wow, that’s awesome!!! My dad made a bunch of that kind of stuff for me, too, when I was little (well, not the wine rack!!) and my girls still use it all — my huge beautiful toy box/bench is here at our house, but my old rocking chair, rocking horse, and the “Linkin’ Log”-like log cabin still get enjoyed at my parents’ house. He’s spent many years since making those things building houses, so his shoulders and wrists are pretty much shot and he almost never does stuff like this in his workshop anymore. (his workshop has become his eBay store anyway!!) It’s a bit sad sometimes, but I’m so glad we still have those things he made for me way back when.

Wow! Your dad is very talented! I’m wondering if he would like to adopt any more children - like me? =) I’m crawling back to the world of blogging and hope you’ll come to the creek for a visit! May your weekend be filled with all that you treasure!

Very nice furniture! Where can I place my order? I love the bed, but I think my favorite is the one with the wine bottles because that’s usually where my kids drive me too.

Yep, one talented character there! I started laughing hard when I saw the bouncy horse! Just caught me off guard!
And with all that, he still has Pie Molds to add to the collection! What a guy!

tell my dad he is wrong….Even though I am the oldest, I
(my kids) were the guinea pigs where he began his crafting of wood items. (I also had bought a curio cabinet KIT which disappeared out of my house and reappeared about a week later) It would’ve taken me forever to finish it. He did ask me what color stain I wanted and it is still the most packed with my frogs. My son also got the very first hobby bounce (see yellow shirted kid!!he is the first great grandkid) I have a lot of stuff around. Thanks dad!!
Since my kids are now grown, I don’t get anything like the last picture!!
