MY DAD CAN MAKE NEARLY ANYTHING OUT OF WOOD

Posted by Karen on Feb 26 2008

My post about my dad’s creations has gotten quite a bit of great feedback! I’m sure it made his day to read all of the lovely things you had to say about his woodworking skills.

I’m going to show off one more thing now because one of my dad’s friend’s is interested in the cross stitch frame he made for me. Instead of emailing her pictures directly, I’ll show her here, and everyone else can see how cool this is too!

So here you go, Darla….the floor frame my dad made for me:

Notice the cat. What is it about them always having to be in the pictures?

Here’s another shot in working position:

There’s that cat again!

The frame adjust wider and narrower for different sized projects and it adjusts up and down depending on which chair you want to sit in. Oh, the project that’s on it now, it’s Rocky Mountain Christmas by Marty Bell. That’s how much of the project I’ve gotten done in the last 8 years or so. It’s pretty slow going.

That is an awesome tool. I wish I had one of those while I was working on my Disney project (the one that took 2 years). Is there a patent on that design?

If I had something like that I am sure I would cross stitch more. That is beautifully designed.

AND he made the one that Karen had in her Feb 23rd posting of things made of wood our dad made that is a “sit in any chair” type of frame. You can carry it here and there and just set your leg on it and keep it steady.
Karen just has more patience and more “time”. What with all the play rehearsals, etc.
I never had the patience to count.

Now I don’t have one of those but if I did, I bet there would be no excuse for not xstiching at home. Wonder why Karen doesn’t stitch at home? Hmmm. Oh did I say that out loud!

I’ll have to show my husband this stand as I’m sure he could make one for me, it looks great. Looks like just the thing I could use for the larger pictures that I do. Mind you I guess you could always join a whole load of little ones together with calico and set them up on the frame too.

I have loads of pictures that desparately need framing but it is so expensive so at some time when all the othe r jobs are done we may have to look into doing them ourselves. I have at least 10 to 15 quite large ones to frame which would cost about US $120 each to do.

    Keep stiching
    Love Carolynn xxx :-)
