17 INCHES

Posted by Karen on Mar 09 2008

That is the official word. London got a whopping 17 inches of snow. Just east of us in Columbus, 20+ inches fell. Ok, so I realize that in Fargo, ND, this would be a “dusting.” In Central Ohio though, this is huge. Last time something like this happened around here, William Taft was president and the Titanic hadn’t been built yet!

I thought I’d share some more pictures. Not only ones I took, but also from my readers from around the state of Ohio.

Mowana finished up the never ending game of Monopoly after the kids got bored….

The rolls from Pioneer Woman’s website turned out oh so yummy….

The sun came out in the evening! What a wonderful sight!

Img 3206

The kids played out in the snow again. Here’s a picture of KT. Look closely. Nick buried her in snow (at her request)….

Img 3218

Then they came in and roasted marshmallows and had s’mores….

Today we had the task of clearing the driveway. Thankfully when Mike’s mom moved to Florida, she left us her snowblower. We used it for our own driveway and to finish off the neighbor’s driveway. The neighbor who, incidentally, is leaving for Florida tomorrow. Lucky dog.

It was definitely a family affair….(that’s me taking the picture!)

Ok, onto some pictures from my readers. Jenny from Mommin’ it Up won’t be swinging little Sophie anytime soon….

Teri shows off the new look in winter landscaping here in Ohio….

Thea from I’m a Drama Mama shows off how far the snow drifted up her door. She’s another one who had shows this weekend that were canceled because of the weather.

And I just love this other picture that Thea sent. It just looks so Narnia-ish with the lamp post and and all…

I’m done with winter now. Spring can come anytime. Like NOW!

Bleh. Snow. Bleh. When we got our “Shut Down the Weatherproofed Airport, Mabel, it’s SNOWING!” blizzard last year, I think it was something like 28 inches of snow or something insane like that. So I feel your pain. And envy…yes, envy…for we have only a two legged 6 year old snowblower. And his lungs tire quickly. ; ) Glad you made it through! :)

That’s a lot all in one shot even for Fargo — and some points further north!! We usually don’t get that much all at once either. Our turn is coming though — just wait for the temps to warm up here for a couple more weeks, and I’m betting I’ll have similar photos to share!

Wow. I don’t suppose you would care to know what it was like today down here in beautiful, sunny southwest Florida?

    I didn’t think so.

Great pictures! I can’t believe you guys got hit so hard and we didn’t get anything from this storm. It is usually the other way around. The good news is being March warmer weather should take it away quickly!

I just LOVE the pictures. I SOOOOO wish there was some way we could swap weather for a season. Right now the perspiration is dripping off me it is so humid, I would so much prefer something white wet and cold right now.

When I’ve either holidayed or lived in places where there is snow, I just love the transformation of the landscape and how quiet everything gets.

Enjoy while you have it, mind you those of you who get snow EVERY winter I guess the novelty wears off after awhile hey? :-)

    Take Care and keep warm
Lots of Love Carolynn xxx :-)

Wow! We have been lucky in the Pittsburgh area to not get really hit this year. Are those marshmellos square shaped?

I seriously wish I didn’t know KT read your blog. Dangit! I can’t make my sarcastic comment knowing she reads here. Sorry, KT, you mama has blog-friended a smart-mouth, a sometimes slightly bawdy smart-mouth. Karen, check your e-mail!

Wow! I’m so glad that we missed out on this storm (as I gaze out of my window at blue skies and some actual, real - if brown - grass peeking out through the melting snow we’ve got!

It looks like you all came through it well though - I just say that all of that snow can stay right down there in Ohio until spring. Only 10 more days - woo hoo! ;)

Just imagine our surprise when we opened the garage door and snow had drifted about 3/4 the way up the door and we had a nice imprint in the snow of our garage door. We only got 11 inches but the drifts were probably 3 times that in some places, but the front porch was free of snow.

Your photo of the snow-covered swing reminded me that when my son was about two I filmed him playing on his swingset and sliding down the slide in half a foot of snow. I hope that encouraging my kids to do things like that gained me enough “Fun Mom” points to make up for all the times I’m too chicken to take them skiing or too prissy to take them to the beach.

I so wish I could start repairing my yard now that some of the snow is melting, but I know we’ll probably get a few more snow bouts before it’s all over.
