THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS
Posted by Karen on Apr 20 2008
I was making more wipes the other day. Why? Well, because it’s way more fun to make the wipes than to use them for cleaning. Plus, I had hit Jo-Ann Fabrics for something and the flannels were calling my name. Darn, they are all so cute!
Well, I was stitching along and I smelled a familiar smokey smell. No, my machine wasn’t blowing up, my brain was thinking. What if I patched together a couple of colors? I mean, my wipes are cute on their own, but maybe this would make them stinkin’ cute!
I’ve always wanted to learn how to quilt, but I don’t need another hobby to plunk my money time into.
But after seeing this, maybe it’s a hobby I should think about more seriously…..

Oh my! I’m not sure I could clean a bathroom with this! I just want to snuggle with it instead! Of course, never having tried real quilting or taken a class, I’m sure I broke one of the big quilting rules. My corners don’t meet up….

And NO! That wipe was not made with maize and blue fabrics! The true colors are shown in the first picture–yellows and purples. Although, now that has me thinking…..(insert smokey smell here)…..I could make some maize and blue wipes specifically for cleaning the toilets!
Ok, so now that I’ve made a bazillion wipes, what am I going to do with all of them? That’s where I’m limited only by my imagination.
I can rinse strawberries and let them drip dry on a wipe.

And once I’ve cut their tops off, I can use the wipe to transport them to the garbage (or the compost bin if you’re a bit greener than me).

They work well for holding onto a cold popsicle.

And they are wonderful for catching the drips from my coffee mug.

I use them all the time for catching the potato, apple, and carrot peelings. And for making it easy to get all of it to the trash.

Peelings aren’t all they catch! I use them to catch pistachio shells so I don’t have to dirty (and then wash) a cup.

I recently found they are great for cleaning mushrooms! No water needed!

And when the kids want a little snack, voila! Why dirty a plate? Bread and butter and raw honey coming right up!

The possibilities are, literally, endless! Besides the obvious wiping and cleaning, these little guys can be used for so much! And they just pop right in the washer and dryer and come out looking great. Well, unless you use them to wipe up concord grape juice!
And guess what? Tomorrow starts another Bloggy Giveaway spectacular! And I’ll be giving some of these away! And just because I love you all so much, I’ll be giving away new ones and not ones that have cleaned up concord grape juice!

Had to LOL about your “special” use of the maize and blue wipes! Excellent thought! Seriously, I think your flannel wipes are sim[ly awesome……and so “green” cuz it would take a ton of them to make a wash load and you save all those paper towels! You could even make them in specific colors (a take on your maize and blue idea) for different purposes and then can throw them in a certain washload with things of a like purpose. You are definitely on a creative kick. Go, Karen!

Those are too cute — I might have to try making some of those, too (or you could sell some on etsy
I’m sure my daughter would take them over immediately.

I think that it is incredibly ironic that you have a link to MGoBlue!
And for the record, toilets are still the one area that I refuse to use my cloth cleaning rags. I still have a normal Toilet Brush, but I want to throw away the paper towels after I “wash the pot”.
Cute wipes!

heeheehee. Why use them to clean the pot? Some people are so green they no longer buy TP. No, I am not one of those people, but seriously - how different is that idea from cloth dipes and lunapads? Color coding is all it takes.

I love the idea! I think that because your corners don’t match up it makes them that much more special!!

You’re making me greener and greener.
I’ll have to enter this giveaway; I can’t sew. I can barely thread the machine’s needle.

I do think those look a bit on the maize and blue side. Purple? Well if you say so…
They look quite handy - I hadn’t even considered a lot of those uses!

Such a great selection of whimsical designs! I would definitly replace my babywipes with these! One more way to be ‘Green’! I would have a hard time using them to clean though. They are too sweet. Thanks for the visit!
