My parents came for a visit around St. Patrick’s Day.
One of the nights we went to Longhorn for dinner. The other night, I had to cook. So I decided to do it up big and I told them I was going to make Pioneer Woman’s pot roast. My dad was all for it. My mom…..she was worried that my dad would come to expect that kind of cooking. It turned out phenomenally!! I also made the roasted garlic mashed potatoes. I had to sequester my mom in the sunroom to play a game with the kids so she was not privy to what was actually in them!
Well, my dad had made dessert. And I think it’s funny. I make him the most awesome, the most scrumptious, the most delectable dinner. And for dessert, he makes this for me…..
Yeah, it’s apple pie. With apples that have been died green for St. Patrick’s day. Either that or they are very very moldy. Which I hope they weren’t because over the course of a few days I ate 4 pieces of it. So yeah, while it looks nasty, it tasted phenomenal!

LOL! Well, maybe he went a little overboard with the green coloring……a bit less may have done the trick without such an emerald color. But now tell us: how did it taste?????? (perhaps with your eyes closed?)

I had to keep reading to figure out what it was he made. Although Grandpa’s apple pies are awesome, I’d hesitate with this one! But it’s making me want apple pie now!!

Eh. I’ll pass. I’m not to keen of apple pie to begin with. How ’bout steak mushroom sandwiches instead?

Karen that’s not fair. That was your Moms idea. Mine was the apple pie hers was the green. JUST FOR THAT I WILL MAKE ANOTHER ONE………..TOMORROW AND THE POT ROAST IS WORTH WAITING THE COOKING TIME FOR.
