Y-F-M-P-BAGELS

Posted by Karen on May 29 2008

Alrighty, I was over reading a post at Coming to a Nursery Near You and it reminded me of something. Math is important. And it’s really not even difficult at the lowest levels. Like simple addition. Or multiplying two one digit numbers together.

For background, go read Dawn’s post about how Michael Angelo’s can’t figure out what “about 5″ means.

Well, apparently the good people at Whole Foods aren’t much better at math. They have their “store brand” called 365. And they make a yummy frozen mini pizza bagel (can I get any more adjectives modifying the word bagel?) So anyway, the Y-F-M-P-Bagels box says that a serving size is seven Y-F-M-P-Bagels. And there are “about two servings” in a box.

When you open the box, you find 12 Y-F-M-P-Bagels. Not 14 as the math would make you believe. Just 12.* Which means someone jipped me out of one of my Y-F-M-P-Bagels! And I’m sure that extra Y-F-M-P-Bagel would have satiated my hunger. As it turned out, I could only have six Y-F-M-P-Bagels and I had to supplement my lunch with 12 marshmallows and a piece of Ghiradelli chocolate.

If my diet fails, I’m blaming Whole Foods and their bad math! Yeah, cuz that’s easier than blaming myself!

*I’m adding this because I wasn’t clear….they were packaged in two flat packages. There were 6 in one and 6 in the other. They were not just loosely thrown into the box. It was very clear that no more than 6 would fit in one package.

One more thing, if you want to see an absolutely gorgeous picture (and I know you do) stop by this post by Dawn. This is absolutely stunning! And no photoshop tricks were used!

LOL Yep, it’s all Whole Foods fault!

I look at it this way. INstead of me being able to have chicken parmesan and spaghetti with my family that night, I wound up having a salad with some leftover chicken in it and it was DELICIOUS. So, I didn’t miss out - but I HAD to blog about it because it annoyed me. If Libby was older, there wouldn’t have been enough either. I like that they came back and asked my opinion about things, too.

Can I have some chocolate now?

I think they put “about 14″ in order to let the people counting in the factories to make mistakes. Those darn people! They probably ate them off the line as they were packing them!!

By the way, that was a very awesome picture!

There are three kinds of people, those who can count and those who can’t.

I saw Dawn’s photo - and it is truly awesome! :)

Hmm, sounds like the people at Whole Foods are about as good at math as I am. Scary thought. ;)
