GLASS HALF EMPTY OR GLASS HALF FULL

Posted by Karen on May 30 2008

You guys know I complain about the seemingly endless cloud cover here in Ohio. You’ve heard me lament about the horrible lack of sun. I’m this close to developing rickets from my lack of Vitamin D (not really, I am using a hyperbole here!)

I mean, just look at this forecast!

Clouds

“Considerable cloudiness?” That’s just sad.

Although, KT said something profound the other day. She said, “Don’t think of it as cloudiness, think of it as constant shade!”

Well, now, there is a positive! I think Central Ohio should have a new advertising campaign. Something to the effect of:

If you have a high risk of skin cancer, move to Central Ohio. We have constant shade!

Thanks for that “silver lining” KT! I must say Karen I am with you. Two days ago we were out on our front porch at like 2 pm and Joshua said, “Mommy I’m cold, can I have a jacket?” at the END OF MAY!! It was sad.

Great slogan. I do recall that while attending OWU, some friends and I decided that February was actually the longest month of the year, due to your “constant shade” and the ever present cold wind. That’s a bit of a downside.

I only meant to live in NC long enough to get my masters, but I found out that the sun shines here.

We could use some of that “constant shade” here in AR. We may actually be getting some this weekend…we’ll see!

We’re still getting down to the 30s at night. THAT’S sad.

Move here. Bright and sunny today and the wind actually isn’t going nuts. And eventually my pediatrician is going to retire and I’ll go into hysterics. Please. Prevent my histrionics and just move out here now. ;)

Sounds about like our forecast too. What’s frustrating me right now is the 40-degree mornings and high 60 to low 70-degree afternoons. Do I send the kids to school in shorts and have them freeze at the bus stop in the morning, or do I put them in pants and then they’re hot all afternoon… We’ve been wearing mostly capri pants, but I’m staring at drawers or bins full of shorts every morning wondering if we’ll ever get a chance to actually wear them. :)

At least you aren’t getting all the rain and thunderstorms we are. I like the constant shade comment. :)

Actually, I’m marveling in today’s beauty. Sitting outside on the laptop while Jake is doing sidewalk chalk…I don’t mind the cloudiness as long as it’s warm enough to go outside!

I’m diggin the “constant shade” point of view.

I like the positive outlook! Right now we’re in the constant shade period, but by the middle of July, we’ll be in the beautiful (and undying) sun. Then we’ll hit the best season which is incredible changing leaves. And we’ll go full circle to crisp, clear, and cold!!!

    What did I miss?
