A LONG NIGHT

Posted by Karen on Jun 04 2008

We’ve been lucky so far in missing some pretty bad storms. Last night our luck ran out. Whoo-eee, did we have a doozy. And not just a “last an hour and get it over with” kinda storm. It woke us up at 4:00a.m. and continued right through until about 10a.m.! The rain has finally stopped*, but the tornado watch continues until 4p.m. today! I am breathing a little easier now that there isn’t constant lightning, thunder, and high winds!

Here’s the radar shot we had at 4:00a.m. See the “Co” of “Columbus?” We live just south of that “Co.” And the line of storms was moving due east.

Radar

As far as I can tell, there isn’t any damage around me. Lots of tree debris and standing water. But nothing major looks out of place. Although I haven’t left the house yet, so it’s hard to tell. How did my other Ohio bloggy friends fare?

*I spoke too soon. By the time I was finishing this post, the rain started up again. It’s pouring now.

Yikes! That’s one scary radar image. Can I just say that I’m glad that it all stayed well south of here? ;)

I hope that everything and everyone are ok!

Wow! Sounds (and looks on the weather map) like you really had some serious weather! We had only some rain. It quit long ago. And right now the sky has lightened up a lot. We may even be done with the rain for now. I’ll bet the sun peeks through before the day is over!

So glad you are all okay and there is no physical damage to your home and all. How did Dingle come through the storms?

Yeah, I’m pretty sick of this weather. Woke up to tornado sirens at 4am last Friday. Woke up to the storm at 12:30am this morning and went down to watch the news to make sure I didn’t need to put on my ruby slippers.

Plus, Dave has a flight to DC tonight. Sounds like fun to me…

So very glad you are ok! I had some friends just last week in the path of a tornado. It just missed their house by less than a half mile. Tornadoes are very scary.

Goodness was last night rough. I was up about 230am hoping my house wasn’t going to blow down! We are up in Delaware county just north of cbus. Now there are tons of flood warnings. Hope the ride back home from downtown isn’t too bad!

You may be aware that Australia is currently experiencing the worst drought for about 10 or more years so every bit of rain is welcomed. Last week (can’t remember day) I woke at about midnight to thunder and lightening which didn’t go away until about 1600 the next day and bot did it rain, my pool is now overflowing. I just hope this rain has fallen in the right areas as far as catchment goes for the dams, both for the main dams and the farmers dams. I have friends who are farmers and have had to buy in water for the past 8 years now to supply the house it’s daily needs, this is supplemented with bore water.

    Keep Safe
Lots of Love Carolynn xxxx :-)

Hope everything is okay … We lucked out here in Mansfield. We got quite a bit of rain, but the storms stayed to the south.

It’s a good thing we went to the zoo on Monday!

    Take care!

Glad to hear there was no major damage. Now could you send some of that rain up here? Minus the tornadoes, thankyouverymuch.

We had rain? Must’ve slept through it….course, I probably wouldn’t have if it was thundering like at your house…very mild by me.

Um yeah, see the red right above Dayton? That’s us! We came through it fine, although I made the fam go to the basement for an hour. Our satellite went out and I was worried that I was going to miss the “take cover” call, so downstairs we went. Pretty crazy, wasn’t it?
