SATURDAY PHOTO HUNT–EMOTIONS

Posted by Karen on Jun 14 2008

This week’s theme is “Emotion(s).”

For this theme I need to show you a series of pictures. One picture just doesn’t do the story justice.

But first you’ll need some background information. We went on our first cruise in May of 2003. We loved it so much and could not wait to go back so we booked a three day cruise for that September! The thing is, we wanted the kids to savor the first cruise without having their minds muddled with plans for the next one so soon. So we had to come up with a plan.

The plan went like so….We convinced the kids that Grandma and Grandpa were going on their first ever Disney Cruise! And we not only had to loan them our luggage, but we had to drive them to the airport. This explained why our luggage was in the van on the way to the airport.

Half way to the airport we broke the news to the kids. And the emotions came, rapid fire…..

This is KT’s “I don’t believe you” look. Nick seems to be processing the idea.

Then KT tries to hide her emotions by doing a celebrity-like motion. Of course, it’s sinking into Nick’s brain.

Emotions are a crazy thing. Here KT slips into the goofiness phase as her brain tries to process the news. Nick–yeah, he’s still totally happy.
2003 Dcl Sept 004

The reality of the situation takes over. She actually says, “My heart tells me it’s true, but my brain tells me it’s not possible.” We show her the airline tickets and the cruise documents with our names on them.

KT starts crying (tears of joy, of course!) Nick is doing his cool, “YESSSSSS!” motion.
2003 Dcl Sept 006-2

Nick lets his emotions go wild and KT looks at him in disbelief.
2003 Dcl Sept 007

Both kids accept the fact they are on their way to a Disney Cruise!!

Haha, they are so cute. Hmm… I wonder how my reaction would be if someone surprises me with a trip to Disney.

What a fun idea to surprise them. We aren’t able to keep it a secret from the boys and we’re not going until next March. We’re just too excited already so the boys have picked up on it.

I have to agree, there is no way I could keep that surprise! But then, I’m a blabber mouth so … lol

    Those are fantastic….and what fun!!!!!!

I love to surprise my children.

I have a friend who traveled overseas with her 4 children on several occasions, and she and her husband always waited until the last minute to tell their children about the trip. Her reasoning was that whenever they told the children about an upcoming trip, they would get so excited that their immune systems would become vulnerable and they would get sick before the trip. If she waited until the last minute and surprised them, they didn’t get sick. I wonder what Dr. Mike thinks of that theory.

That is a precious story, and with all the perfect pictures! I’m sure if I tried something like that I’d forget the camera, so we’d have no documentation! What you have is great

Love it! I guarantee that if I was surprised with a Disney Cruise the pictures would show me either bouncing up and down uncontrollably or passed out from shock. ;)

Oh what an awesome surprise - and it’s great that you guys were able to keep them from guessing right up until the last moment. I love the pictures - they tell the story so well! :)

Anytime somebody wants to surprise me with a Disney cruise, I’d be all over that… ;)

Well, that was worth the wait!! Patricia said her kids would get sick if they knew ahead…isn’t that how you were? Ruined every vacation.
You also know how this family is..the longer it takes to set up an “instance” the further it goes…peanuts on envelopes, pictures everywhere in the house you probably haven’t found yet and dad won’t ask if you found it..could be years from now..
