THROWBACK THURSDAY–MY FIRST ATTEMPT
Posted by Karen on Jun 26 2008
There is a little thing in bloggyland called Throwback Thursday. I’ve never done it before because I’ve had content in my head suitable for a post.
But today, that content is gone. I’m up to my gills in stuff to do. And I’m sick to top it off. Mike or KT gave me some cold bug and the cough and crap feeling are lingering. But yet I still have to do stuff around the house. Ick.
Anyway, back to Throwback Thursday. It’s a group participation type of post started by Sharon, Audrey, and Jane over at Pinks & Blues Girls in which you post old pictures of yourself.
I’ve never participated before because that would require finding pictures, scanning them, and then posting them. As luck would have it, I came across some old pictures as I was cleaning and organizing, so I’m sharing them with you. But not all at once or what will I have left to show you next time my brain is empty on a Thursday?
Here I am in 2nd grade making my First Communion. Ya wouldn’t catch me in a dress that short now. In fact, I don’t even think I wear shorts that short now!

What I notice the most is the hideously patterned cushions on the deck furniture. And the lack of a railing on the deck itself. Those of you who have been to my parent’s house know that their deck is, oh, about 15 feet above the ground concrete patio. I’m sure that there was a First Communion party that day. And that the deck was packed with relatives. Relatives who might just have had a little bit too much communion wine beer.

How cyuoooooot you look! Isn’t it amazing how DIFFERENT things were back then? I clearly remember riding in my mom’s car in the front seat - no car seat, nothing. lol

Awwwww so darling! You look like such a sweet thing and here you are knocking the cushions! Is that some kind of mean thing? I should post one of your school pictures in retribution! Hahahahaha. Also do you remember dark rimmed glasses and plaid pants that were worn back then? We are such slaves to fashion…..even ugly fashion!

What a hoot!!! I remember those cushions!! NO WAY would I try and find my 5th or 6th grade picture with MY dark rimmed glasses. Aren’t these the pictures dad put in the attic to scare away the mice?

Aaahh First Communion, I don’t actually remember the day of my 1st communion, but I have the same silly picture all dressed up in my white dress, except I was standing out in front of our house.

Cute photo. I especially love the fine detail of having the date at the bottom corner. I don’t know when half of the pictures of my past of long ago were taken.

You’re knocking the cushions? Look at those socks!
And KT really does look like you did. At least when you were in 2nd grade.

Cute! At least you were smiling. When my parents took my picture in my First Communion dress, I thought I had to look all serious. In retrospect, I just look unhappy.
Then again, maybe I knew that the Sandy Duncan haircut + the ugly glasses + the dress would make me look like a boy in drag when viewed 30 years later…
