TACKLE IT TUESDAY–MY CREATIVE SIDE

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

Well, here I am, another week later. I hesitate telling you everything I’ve tackled in the last week because I’m sure I’ll get a ton of comments requesting I come over and help you. And I really would love to, but……..I’m busy that day.

So I’ll skip the long list. Instead I’ll show you something creative I did. Our main bathroom is being stripped of its 1970’s wallpaper and painted. I picked up a few things at Ikea to accessorize the new color, and because of the re-do the kids will finally be allowed to use their white Mickey Mouse towels. Who buys white towels for kids??? I digress.

Back on topic here…..I had just regular-smegular ol’ curtains in there and I didn’t want to splurge on anything expensive. Out of the deep dark recesses of my brain came an idea. And it was actually a good idea.

Here’s what I started with…..

And yeah, that was after I ironed them! I’m not so good with an iron, as you can tell!

Then I took some fabric paint I found in my massive decluttering and, using a Home Depot Mickey head paint chip as a guide, I painted red, black, and yellow Mickeys.

I just put them willy-nilly because I’m not a planner when it comes to these things. I decided to keep them to the bottom half of the curtain though because I was afraid it would get too pleated near the top and the effect would be lost.

So what was the effect?

A little hard to see with the sun streaming in. They aren’t perfect, but they’ll do. I really like the way they turned out. And it was SO easy!

I won’t be around today. The family is holding me hostage at Cedar Point. I’m going against my will. If they think I’m riding any of the huge rides, they are crazy!

    Very cute idea!!
I need to strip 80’s wallpaper out of 3 bathrooms and a bedroom. Yucko!
I did LLB’s room and the dining room last summer. I’m not doing any of it this summer… Too busy!
Maybe when the kids go back to school…

    Those are too cute!

Enjoy your day at the Point. I’m jealous!! You know, we could always switch places when it comes to the days you’re being held against your will!

Those are adorable! Great job! Wish we could join you at Cedar Point for the day. At least you’d have someone to hang with while not on the rides with your family. :)

Way to use what you have! I think it turned out pretty cute. If you had a Mickey cookie cutter you could have dipped that into the paint and then stamped it onto the curtains.

You are so talented! One of our next tasks is to get rid of the ’70s look of our bathrooms, too. Fun, fun!

Love them! Would they be more visible if you filled them in with the fabric paint?
And you’re not going on the rides? Hmmmm…gonna hafta work on that. I managed to get Tom on Tower of Terror and have the pictures to prove it! ;)

What a great idea!! Love them. Yes you are creative…. and frugal as well! Did I see a Minnie there with a bow in her hair? Or am I seeing things? Bet you had fun re-vamping those curtains as well!!

Very nice! At first I thought the Mickeys were stitched onto the fabric. Nice dimension. Very ambitious.

I love those! You added just the right amount of design and color, so they look customized without the Mickeys being overwhelming. Way to go!

And I hope you had a good time at Cedar Point. :)

Not only do I need a major decluttering but we also need to do a complete paintover throughout the house, not my favourite job at all.

When I had difficulty ironing a silk shirt, someone suggested that I spray it with water from a spray bottle then put it into the freezer for about 3 to 5 mins, then take out and iron immeadiately and believe it or not it works wonders. I’ve often wondered if it would work with other difficult to iron fabrics.

    Worth giving it a try.

    Take Care
    Lots of Love Carolynn :-)
