BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

Posted by Karen on Jul 02 2008

It’s been another one of those days. So I’m getting this up a bit late. And it’s going to be brief because my day is still not done.

Here’s how my Mickey bathroom turned out……

Sorry this one is a little dark. No matter what I did I couldn’t get it lighter.

It was a pretty cheapo overhaul. The most expensive part was having Little Joe (my neighbor/contractor) strip the wallpaper and paint. Otherwise it was close to nothing. The Ikea rug was $10. The Ikea shower curtain was $3.99. The Ikea shower curtain liner was $1.79. The Ikea shower curtain rings were $0.99. Are we seeing a trend here?

The Mickey parts bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths were free. They were gifts to the kids many moons ago, but you know–kids and white towels just don’t mix. The curtains…..well, we covered that topic here. And the Mickey ears on the back of the toilet were free (well, they were given to us on a cruise, so technically it’d have been cheaper NOT to get them!)

I’ve also got Pal Mickey in there and a Minnie Mouse alarm clock–both of which were collected from around the house.

So there you have it. Now, it’s back to work for me.

Oh that turned out really cute! And cheap is definitely the best way to redecorate. :) Great job!

That is so cute! I just don’t have any vision. Unless it is set up as a set, I just never am able to make a bunch of things work together. And the curtains…Oh My!! That was so smart to use the mickey mouse cut out as a pattern. Again, I am not that smart…;-)

ALL our walls need to be washed down with suger soap ( well scrubbed more like) then everywhere needs painting. Mind you this will be the third time we have done this chore in nearly 20 years so I guess I shouldn’t winge too loudly. We have the paint, it is a matter of getting others jobs done first. As for the decluttering nothing even remotely happening on that front. Mainly as there are more important jobs being done on the outside by hubby needing some of my assistance and I guess healthwise since beginning of April I haven’t been too wonderful.. If there was such a thing as being able to get a brand new immune system that wasn’t so intent on rejecting everything it can get it’s hands on that would be a great start. A blood transfusion would also be a good start as far as energy levels go. See my Specialist on Friday see what happens then hey. If you have any great ideas on how to conjure up energy from somewhere I’d love to give it a go. I’d love some of that energy you seem to have Karen then I too could brag about all the decluttering going on.

Hey, I contacted Tiff, ( the other Aussie in your competition), she too is a midwife so we are going to correspond via e-mail and see how things go. I just have to be careful I don’t end up with so many people to write to that I can’t keep up.

    Take Care all
Lots of Love Carolynn xxxx :-)

VERY nice job! It all looks so neat and coordinated. Okay, so you wanted the wallpaper off…..and from there what came next as far as the idea of what you planned to do? I guess I mean what was the initial thing you started with theme-wise…..wanting to use the towels? Just trying to learn how a project goes from start to finish as I could use some help in that department! : )

That turned out great! I am very jealous of the Ikea that you have. Ours opens sometime next spring/summer and I can’t wait!

Great job! I’m thinking of re-doing our ducks into something else, but I’m not sure what I want instead. Hey, do they make Ohio State bathroom stuff?! We’ll probably have to draw a line down the middle of the sink … one side Scarlet and Grey and the other side Crimson and White!

Great job. I love how cute it turned out. I have a friend who wanted an all Mickey kitchen at one time. There are so many Mickey products you can buy for your home. It’s fun.

I just had to google Sugar Soap to find out what Carolynn from W. Australia was talking about. Never heard of it before.

Dark photos: you need to force the flash. Whenever an object is backlit by bright sunlight, you need to do this.

The controls are likely different for each camera, but on ours I press down the button that looks like a lightning flash until the logo on the screen is also a lightning flash (instead of an eye, that’s red-eye reduction, and instead of a slash through the lightning flash, that’s no flash, and instead of an A, which stands for auto).

Another trick is to point the camera slightly away from the bright light, to to make the bright area take up less of the composition. For example, if you were taking a picture of your house, and the sun was behind, then make the house take up more of the photo, and decrease the area of sky.

That’s your photo tip for today ;-)
