CURB APPEAL SURVEY

Posted by Karen on Jul 07 2008

Hope you guys all survived the Pediascribe dry spell. I realized I haven’t posted since last Wednesday! Wow! And without KT posting, I’m sure you’re all going into withdrawal, right?

Well, I’m here. KT is in Canada with my parents, so it’ll be a few days until you hear from her again.

In the meantime, let’s have a little fun. I need you to tell me which of these houses has the best curb appeal. If you were looking to buy a house, which one would you be most interested in checking out? Let’s say the insides were identical, and you were just basing your decision on the fronts. Which do you like the best? And what do you like about it? Feel free to mention any negatives about any of the other houses. (Family and friends who know which house is ours, please do not answer).

    I like #1, and #6 the best. #2 is okay, but it’s a little bland… I dunno…
I like #8, but I’d take that fence down… should have put it in the back yard…
I like #7 and #9 except for the trees that are too close to the house. #4 and #3 have too much tree and bushy stuff close to the house, too.
#5 - ornamental grasses always make me wonder what creepy crawlies live in there…

    So - hopefully, I haven’t hurt any feelings… it’s simply my opinion.

I like house #6 because trees/bushes are not blocking the view to the pretty paint that is on it.
I also like #8 but the fence…something..needs to be straight across..I do like the brick drive..gives it character but would be hard in the winter.little hill on the one side which is good when it rains..it would then appear to have a “step down” living room or family room…reading things into it

I still say #6…just saw the little barn (garage)in the back painted like the house….love it!!! And it looks like a nice drive that goes around the back..

These are all beautiful houses (and one of it is yours!? WOW). It’s so hard to pick a favorite but I’d go with #6 since I like the periwinkle color.

I have nothing negative to say to the others.Oh except that house #8 is a little small and with minimal windows.

They’re all nicely manicured. It’s hard to distinguish between just the curb appeal based on landscaping vs. the style of the house but I have an opinion so I’ll share!

#2, #3, #5 & #9 have no appeal to me. I need more. Not sure more of what, but they’re boring. House 3 is cool looking but the outside just doesn’t grab me.

    I like #1, #4, #6 & #8. I like the trees by the house on #1 & #4 and I love the rest of the landscaping on #6 & #8

#7 kinda has a “minimalist” thing going which looks nice but I really do like trees.

They are all lovely homes that are well tended. Do you think one of these people would come tend to my curb appeal?

6 is my fav, i am from below the mason dixon line and am partial to a veranda type porch. but 1-3 are fine.

3 reminds me of a cabin/lodge checkin main building.

4c is my second fav i like that tree and the lushness behind it

I would go for #6. It has older trees, pretty flowers in the front and is not overwhelmed with evergreen bushes. #3 runs a close second.

They seem like they’d be in nice neighborhoods because of how well kept they are.

    But individually:
I like houses 1, 2, and 9 because they are open, but have trees sprinkled around near by.
Number 3 I like the yard more than the house itself, but the balcony is neat.
Number 4 feels a little cluttered with the trees blocking the house.
I don’t really like the landscaping with 5.
    I’m not fond of 6 or 7.
And as for number 8, the fence makes the house un-inviting.

I hope no one takes offense to my opinions. I can’t say much because we live in an apartment and any house would do!

I like #3 for the way it seems to blend in with the natural surroundings. Like a cabin getaway.
However, my favorite is #6! I can just picture kids running on the lawn while friends rock on the porch while sipping a cold drink!

I love #7. When can I move in? Hahaha

#6 is very pretty too. It’s country style, right?

I like #6 the best with #8 a close runner up. I like the historic country feel of 8.

The satellite dish on #8 needs to go… you can tell there are no protective covenants in that neighborhood… other than that… they’re all fine.

I like houses 1,3, and 5 the best. I like that the garages are not facing the road and that they have mature trees.

#6 is my favorite, I like the light color and the windows on top! I’ve always just loved the look of houses like that. The other one’s I like are 1,2, and 5. I like the lighter colors, and they just make me happy! I can’t quite describe why!

I am seriously jealous of the big front yards on all of them.

Since you read my blog, you know I don’t like medium sized trees that obscure the front of the house. Other than that, they are all pretty. I’d plant more flowers though… (again, you read my blog so you know that I’m a flower fanatic).

#1-Looks just very well taken care of and homey.
#2-Kind of reminds me a grandparents house, the brick and all.
    #3-Beautiful, very lodgy and cozy.
    #4-reminds of the Brady’s house
    #5-Perfection
    #6-Near perfection
    #7-pretty, looks meditarrean(sp?)
    #8-So cute, cottagey.
#9-very cute, a little small compared to the others.

They are all great. Fortunate choices.

I love #6! I like the big porch that goes around it. I can see myself in a rocking chair, siping a cup of coffee on a nice summe day!

I can’t say I dislike any of them, but #6 is definitely my favorite.

Either 3 or 4, because there is mature landscaping. See, I live in the land of sticks planted to look like trees. The land of “if it’s brown, it’s summer.” The land of xeriscaping. Sigh…lush grass and tall trees make me long for the midwest. Until I think of the accompanying humidity and winters. Then I snap out of it. ;)

Hmmm…It may just be perspective, but houses 3 and 4 look like they have something to hide…I personally love mature trees but sometimes if you can’t see the house, some people don’t like that.

The rest of the houses I have no opinion on. They all look really nice.

Living in Arizona, I never see any yards as green as any of those, so I don’t envy whoever has to cut those lawns. They’re beautiful, and I wish we had a lawn, but alas, it’s just rock…Arizona landscaping! :( Thanks for all the green envy, plus I want to live in more than a few of those homes!

My favorites are #6 and #8. Both are a bit unusual looking. #3 and #4 would be next in line. 1, 2 5, 9 - not all that interesting.

It hardly matters. I can’t afford any of them. 8-) Seriously, those are enormous lots!

I like # 6 the best. Next in line would be # 3, with a new screen door, and # 8, after the front fence is removed. The others are a bit blah.

I like #7 the best, style-wise, but I wonder why it has dark streaking on the roof.

    Definitely #6 and then #8.

I like house #2. (I’m a sucker for green shutters. My new house has green ones too!)

And look at the grass in that pic. Nicely manicured and freshly mowed. Looks like it would be a good “brochure” picture for a moving flyer.

    Great curb appeal.

I like #5 and 6. I really love bricks. And #6 is a great photo.

1 - nice but I’d need to rip out all the trees and bushes that are so close to the house… just my taste
2 - beautiful! Great colors. Similar in style to #1, but better landscaping. I like that the bushes are in front of the porch, but not backing up against the side of the house. good sized garage too.
3 - nice, but I’d worry that the tree in the front yard that’s leaning a little would fall on my house in a storm. Would need to get that checked out.
4 - Really nice. The only downside is that the upstairs windows are so small.
5 - really don’t like this one. I don’t like that the front is brick and the sides are siding.
6 - this one and # 2 are my favorites. I LOVE the front porch on this. The colors are great, and the landscaping is great too
7 - nice, but not my style at all
8 - I love the house and the landscaping (especially the cobblestone drive) but hate the little fence. It reminds me of a church cemetary (I really hope this one isn’t yours - if so, I’m really sorry for my comments)
9 - nice, but looks older than the rest.
