#2 UP FOR SALE

Posted by Karen on Jul 15 2008

Yup. It’s now official. Our home is on the market. We’re moving!

To Florida.

Orlando specifically.

Two miles from Walt Disney World. Is anyone that surprised? So #2 is up for sale. We’re hoping for a fairly quick process. You all know I couldn’t have staged my house any better than I have already. In fact, a few of you have privately emailed me with your suspicions. Well, you were right.

So someday in the near future, we will leave this…..

2006 Spring 027

And hopefully move into this…..

Floridian

And of course, whenever your travels take you to Central Florida, we’ll just have to meet up!

For those of you who are nosey and will spend hours trying to find my house online, I’ll save you some time….click here. I only mention it because I’d probably do the same!

My kids have been patients of your husbands for 9 years until we moved to Tennessee in March. I am sure he will be greatly missed by his patients, he is a wonderful, caring doctor. We will pray for your family that everything goes smoothly and quickly as it is not easy to move to another state but it is an adventure that is worth the time. Best wishes from the Long Family.

WHAT? WE’RE MOVING? WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME! Did you ever think I might want to know that? It’s a good thing I read your blog so I can find out about important family stuff!

Oops! Sorry!!! I forgot. I was so busy with house staging and house hunting that it slipped my mind! ;)

KT, it was supposed to be a surprise! ;)
Well. Dang. So much for hoping you’d move to Colorado, but I’m so happy I’ll get to meet you next summer when we hit WDW. Your kids’ll get to do theater stuff with WDW right there, how awesome! And the weather is certainly much better than Ohio! That house in Florida? Awesome! Man, I’m jealous. Not of the whole packing up and moving several states away part, but of the new start part. I’ll just live vicariously through you. ;)

That is a pretty swank house. I hope you are able to sell your Ohio house speedily. Hey since you are bothering me to post pictures of my new house I will get to harass you to post pictures of your new home.

Well, for what it’s worth I’d buy your house in a second!! We’re looking for a new house in the middle-of-nowhere Northern Alberta in that price range and you can’t get anything half as nice as your home! BTW, thanks for saving me the hours searching online for your listing, tee hee!

Congrats on the move though! That’s very very exciting!

Wow! You’ll only be one state away! Granted, it is about a twelve hour drive but…hey! One state away! Are you planning on trying to get a job as a parade Cinderella or something? Dr. Mike hanging up his stethescope to run Space Mountain? Both of these jobs are pipe dreams of mine! HA!

Congrats Dr. Mike and fam!! I am a new(er) listener and am now hooked on the blog. Now we know why there hasn’t been a recent episode…you guys must be super busy!! I tend to be a bit neurotic so I just HAD to start from the beginning…so I’m only on episode 31 and it took me a few weeks to read the entire blog from start to finish, but I love it!! In fact, my two girfriends and I can’t stop talking about Dr. Mike and how much we appreciate the show. We even used one of his topics as the insperation for our first podcast episode. We always give him a big WooHoo whenever we talk about him.

I also love the blog. I’m always wondering what will happen next. I love hearing what’s happening with you guys. You seem full of joy and I love your wit and humor. Keep up the good work!!

P.S. As a Disney lover and former (and soon to be again) Disneyland Cast Member, I fully approve of the Mickey bathroom - it rocks!

Now you all know why there was a free garage sale for us family scavengers….
Hoping Karen continues to do her blogging and if Dr. Mike will be continuing the podcasts…probably once things settle down.

I’ll take your Ohio house. I live in Florida and am about to die to get back northward!!! I don’t really want to go that far north, though. I’d like Tennessee, NC, anywhere in the Appalachian mountains! I do wonder how close you’ll be to my husband’s best friend. He and his family live, literally, a couple blocks away from Disney. Last time we visited with them, they got us free tickets with their friend to Disney. Meanwhile, all our neighbors were fighting Hurricane Ivan!!! Good luck on the move!

Wow, congratulations. I am so going to call you the next time we do to Disney!!!! :-)

I had a sneaking suspicion that’s what was going on… :) Congratulations! That is so exciting - and I am drooling over the new house. And the old one too actually - but we’re pretty settled where we’re at. ;)

We have got to find a way to meet before you move so far away! Either that, or we’ll just have to find a way to afford to get to Disney sometime soon. Hmmm…. ;)

Congrats on the move. I hope everything goes quickly and you get into your new house soon. BTW, why didn’t you post a link to the new house or at least some pictures of the interior (I know you must have some)? I would love to live vicariously through you.

Love the new digs. I do hope the old ones sell quickly. I’d buy it but I can’t be that far from the theatre!!

I think it is totally cool that you are moving, and I am so excited for you.
However, on a selfish note, my children have been patients of Dr. Mike since my oldest who will be 9 was about 2 months old, and I will greatly miss having him as my children’s pediatrician. He will be greatly missed by my children.
Good Luck with your adventures in moving, and both houses are absolutely beautiful. Also, since I am a Wolverine fan, I have to ask is Dr. Mike going to become a Gator?

    Karen-
I’ve listened to Pediacast for 10 months now, but this is my first time getting a second to check out your blog and the website!!! So excited for you to be moving!!! We made the move 2 years ago July 1st to central Fl when I was 21 weeks pregnant!!! I must have been insane! The teenagers had to adjust, but all is well now!!! Yes-we have a large age gap in the kids. Good luck-I’m so happy for you!!! Dr. Mike will have to be a Gator fan. That’s all the natives talk about. And most of the Doc’s did undergrad or med. school there!!!

Hi Karen, didn’t even twig you were decluttering in preparation for a big move (must be a bit slow).

Love the look of the new house from your pic, however tried to go to your link you had marked ‘here’, where was it to go to as for me all it did wa connect me with some real estate site that didn’t apear to have anything to do with either of your houses.??

Good luck with all the packing and the big move, if I was even in the same country I would make time to come and give you a hand, so I will have to give you a cyber hand instead. Take Care and be careful.

I’ll have to get myself a map of the USA so I can see where you are and where you are going to and to also see where all my WetCanvas friends are.

    Lots of Love Carolynn :-)

Long-time Pediacast listener and Pediascribe lurker here. :)

Just had to say — how exciting (though the whole selling, buying, moving process stresses me out, it’s still exciting to think about all that lies ahead). And…that house in FL is absolutely gorgeous. Love it!

Congratulations Karen!! I will be so sad that you are not closer, but then again I didn’t see you much when we lived 30 mins away from each other. Hope to keep reading you blog. You brighten my day.

Wow, first time I have read blog, love, love, love Pediacast!!!!! BUT, I think that I love the new house more!!!!!! Whoah….good luck on that. It looks like the pool is covered, is it broad spectrum UV-rated? If so, that is my favorite part!!!!! That and the media room……..wouldn’t you just love the furniture to come with it??????

When my husband and I built our house 4 years ago, I had 5 months to pack and I did a lot of purging and it was awesome putting practically everything in boxes to make the move easier which ended up being very lucky since it rained 6 inches the day we moved!!! As soon as everything was in the moving truck, our condo was suddenly flooded up to our ankles in every room except the dining room. We spent our last night sleeping on the dining room floor with the mving truck parked outside. The next day we rode to our new home in our very high moving truck through the flood…and our house was high up and totally water-free :)

Wierd how reading this blog ( and listeing to Pedicast)makes me think I know you, but it does…so sorry about the rambling on about my life!

I live on the southern tip of Texas (yes, where Dolly just hit) and I know you will enjoy the weather!!!!

From: Older than average Mother of 3 year old and Middle School Teacher loving the summer off…I’ll be back to read more….
