WHERE WE ARE NOW
Posted by Karen on Jul 30 2008
Exciting times here for us. We had a showing about 12 days ago. Apparently it was a “scout” looking around at houses for a family in New Jersey. Turns out they looked at a bunch of houses and narrowed it down to two–ours and an older home in downtown London.
So tomorrow is a “second showing.” Technically it’s the first showing for the family, but it’ll be the decision-making-showing. Word has it they will put an offer on either our house or the one downtown.
The two houses couldn’t be more different than one another.
Ours was built in 1977 and sits on 1.7 acres.
The other was built in 1876 and sits on .22 acres.
Both have an inground pool. Ours is in the backyard. The other is the backyard.
Ours has beautiful vistas of trees and a farmer’s field. The other is surrounded by houses.
Ours is better.
But it’ll come down to personal preference, much like my curb appeal survey. Some people really dig those older homes. They have character and charm. They have all sorts of interesting rooms and fascinating architecture. They have wiring and plumbing that could go bad at any moment.
Our dream house in Florida is still for sale. All we need is a contract on this house and we can submit an offer on the Florida one. So far things have fallen together in such a way, I just know God is taking care of us. One way or another it’ll work out. Maybe not the exact way I want it to, but it will work out.

How wonderful that someone is REALLY interested with the housing market today…Maybe your signs worked…add some more..like putting a sign on the hot tub that it stays with the house..
Oh, and put one on Dingle too!!

That’s pretty cool that you’ll have an answer (either way) by tomorrow.
Is your hair falling out in clumps?

It’s funny…I used to get so mad at people that said things about my house! But in the end, I always knew it would come down to personal preference.
Good luck. If you need to vent, you know where I am!

You know when we moved to Tn we knew it was right because everything fell into place, if it is meant to be it will be. God is working behind the scenes…it sounds as though things are going as planned. Here is hoping you get an offer on your house. Good luck to you and your family.

I would go for the acreage, but that’s because I grew up practically on top of my neighbors and I don’t mow the lawn.
Oh, a hundred year difference is HUGE. Go recent. My fingers are crossed for you!
Oh, and because you don’t have enough to do…tag. LOL!

If they have half a brain they will pick your house.

I’m pretty sure I’d pick your house, but of course, I’m addicted to wide open space! Character homes are great, but they’re often a lot of work, too.
I love your attitude though ~ that one way or another, it WILL work out, even if not necessarily the way you think it should.

Well your tomorrow in the blog is today.
I’ll be sending good thoughts your way this afternoon when the showing happens. Having seen the two properties I much prefer yours but you just never know. Everything happens for a reason. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

It will all work out… don’t fret.
I know this. I was where you are in 2004. I’m exactly where I am supposed to be.
Fingers and toes crossed - just the same… can’t hurt, can it?

Oh, good luck! I’ll keep my fingers crossed that everything works out with this house - and the new one! Our old house took 16 months to sell 5 years ago and I would never wish that nightmare on anyone. Your current house has so much to offer, I’m sure that even if this sale doesn’t work out that someone will snap it up soon.

Saying a prayer for swift responses!
I’m curious and I’ll say this is a rude question, so don’t answer if you don’t want! I know you’re a Dave Ramsey fan (me too — finally going through FPU). So, I’m wondering, are you guys going to get your new house debt-free like he really recommends? Or will you go with his other plan for buying a home? As I said, curiosity bit me, so don’t answer if you don’t want.
May the Lord work out all the details for you in ways you could never have imagined!!!

So here’s a thought I had today. (I don’t know why, but I did) What about your “Pacing” tradition the night before a big Disney trip? Are you going to keep up the tradition and just transfer it to when you travel back to Ohio? Just a thought that randomly hit me today. Can’t wait to hear how the second walk through went!
