The little girl with vulval pain needs to see a good pediatric dermatologist and rule out lichen sclerosus
(sometimes spelled sclerosis). My daughter was three when she was diagnosed with it. It often presents with constipation in little girls. Many women go undiagnosed until adults when they can advocate for themselves and make everyone understand the pain is not in their head. LS often causes labial fusing, the pain comes and goes, can be VERY intense and always seem worse at night.

It’s a lot more common then one would think! It’s just talked about even less than sacral dimples due to the private area it most often affects.

There is a fantastic support group for LS on yahoo-

Dee Troll, list owner, is a true angel to all who suffer with this, and those seeking a diagnoses of vulval pain.
